Being able to look out from the coast and see the world famous Tidal Causeway is more than enough reason to visit the stunning region of Whitley Bay in Newcastle, but that’s just one of the incredibly appealing sights that can be seen and enjoyed when visiting this region. The large population of just under 40,000 people can be put down to the fairly priced homes and the easy access to the coastline (which is appealing in and of itself), but let’s get to know a little more about this stunning area.

What is there to do here and how easy is it to get around?

Okay, let’s talk about the travel and transport first. There are several private coach services in the region that offer tours to visitors and locals alike. Then there is a variety of buses that operate in the region, some of which run until 1 or 2am – and others finish operating at about midnight. If you’re planning on travelling around the variety of nightclubs then you may be better off booking a cab – and these agencies also work during the day, so they can be ideal if you need to get to town.

Speaking of the town this local centre is one of the busiest that we’ve come across and that doesn’t have to mean that it’s a bad place to be. There are literally dozens of shops, retail outlets, bars, cafés, restaurants, sources of entertainment, a couple of parks and a well maintained cycle lane for those wanting to ride on two wheels.

Tell us more about the things to do!
Okay, you twisted our arm. If you’re looking for exciting things to do then they don’t get more enjoyable than at the local salons (of which there are plenty). Some specialise in hair care and offer several advanced treatments, as well as traditional ones. The majority of salons offer luxurious beauty treatments and there are even two spas within driving distance that offer extensive services.
